Q: If I have pets, will they set off the alarm? A: It depends; we have "pet safe" motion detectors that are pet safe up to 80lbs. This means that so long as your pet weighs less than 80lbs they will not trigger the alarm. Pets weighing over 80lbs will need to be put outside or in a cage to ensure that the motion detector is not set off. Another option would be to deactivate the detector if you plan on letting your pets roam the house while you are away.

Q: Do I need a phone line in order to have security monitoring service? A: No, we offer cellular monitoring services as well. If your cell phone has a signal in your home, then chances are very likely that our cellular unit will also. A Honeywell security system can communicate with our monitoring station in two ways: first- through a LAND LINE phone connection and second- through a cellular unit. We do not offer VOIP or broadband internet monitoring services because they are unreliable.

Q: Do you offer any advanced products and services for more complicated projects? A: For larger homes and commercial locations we offer CCTV, data recording, card reader/ controlled access, low voltage wiring, complete installation and monitoring services.

Q: What are some ways to keep people from trying to break into my house in the first place? A: Motion activated lighting is really good. Also, once your alarm has been installed we will put a yard sign in your front yard that will warn potential intruders that you have a monitored system. We will also give you stickers for your windows that will assist in warding off potential break ins.

Q: How long does it take to install a typical alarm system? A: The Honeywell (Lynx) wireless basic package usually takes our technicians a little over an hour to install. The Honeywell (Vista) system for pre- wired homes usually takes a little over two hours. Any extra equipment/ customized system upgrades including but not limited to a cell unit for cellular service will take our technicians additional time to install.

Q: If I pre pay the 3 yr agreement up front will I get a discount on the monitoring services? A: In most cases no. Generally we trust that all of our customers will continue to pay for their monthly monitoring services throughout the 3 year term, so there really wouldn't be much if any benefit to us if you decide to pay in advance.

Q: If I am just renting, can I still qualify to get the free Honeywell package? A: Unfortunately no; you must be the homeowner in order to qualify for the free system. However, if you plan on renting at the same place for a long time then it may be worth it for you to purchase the system outright. Typically, the cost of a Honeywell basic system will be around $800 plus tax.

Q: I am concerned about having false alarms. Are there any options available to help prevent false alarms? A: False alarms are a big problem. Many cities are now holding meetings where the public can come and discuss this growing problem. False alarms for even one city alone can be a problem costing tax payers millions of dollars. 2- Way Voice service is the most effective way to prevent false alarms. On many occasions after a police report has been filed police officers are suggesting to the victims to only get an alarm if you plan on getting 2- Way Voice service.
